If Trump makes it again, the chance of worldwide chaos is scary high. Russia escalating the European conflict, China reaching for Taiwan, and we’re not even halfway through the list.
Why, exactly, do you think China would reach for Taiwan? More lives would be lost taking Taiwan than there are on the island and the invasion of Taiwan is incredibly unpopular domestically (especially given that it’s been “national policy” for decades without a single gram of action).
Xi already failed to build a legacy with his zero COVID policy, and things are rapidly getting worse economically. Fighting a war is traditionally a good way to distract the people, especially if it’s Taiwan. I doubt it being unpopular or people dying phases him much. He’s a dictator very much like Mao, who couldn’t care less about millions of dead Chinese people. For them, it’s all about power, not about his people. The CCP isn’t interested in bettering their living conditions at all.
So… Has the CCP just been bettering living conditions by accident?
Do you even understand how the CCP structure works? Xi Jinping has some power, but it’s mostly checked by the fact that he’s not some omniscient being presiding over the People’s Congress.
Xi has focussed his efforts mostly in Beijing. The Shanghai clique is no more, and standards are declining accordingly.
Please don’t assume everyone commenting here only has a very blurry view from afar.
Sounds like someone without knowledge of the actual happenings in China tbh
When was the last time you stepped on Chinese soil?
None of your business.
So… Never?
Wonderful how people who don’t know shit about a country seem to be the most confident talking about it.
