This may not look like much if you don’t watch motorsports, and in particular the 24hr Endurance race in Le Mans, but if you do, you may be able to identify the classic track on this map!

    Wait, the race track is still part of a public road? I thought they changed that since the old racetrack

      There is a permanent track there called the Bugatti Circuit but for the endurance race they only use the pit straight and a few corners before they exit into the public road.

      In an interview yesterday, a driver mentioned that part of the challenge is this fact. That most of the track is not made for racing but is being used by cars trucks and busses most of the year

      About a third of the track, centred on the finish line, is purpose-built racetrack. The rest is pretty much all public roads. They added some chicanes to break up the extremely long straight in 1990 and they’ve added small sections of closed-access racetrack on the heaviest braking zones, but the general layout is still the same
