Would love someone to convert my FJ. So much room for batteries, both underneath between the frame rails, and in the engine bay. Like once the driveshaft and exhaust are gone, you could really put a lot of power down there.
Regrettably, this currently costs a small fortune and the driving range is poor.
Replacing the gas engine with an electric one takes the soul with it.
Depends on the car. There are some dog slow piece of shit engines in some of these classics, especially many 70s and 80s cars, before they figured out how to make a decent design while still confirming to emissions standards. I’m talking 6L V8s with a 140HP kind of bullshit. Nothing of value would be lost by converting those old boats into EVs.
That’s what makes them endearing.
Electric motors are too perfect and that’s what makes them boring.
