The 22-year-old Palestinian icon is arrested on another night of Israeli raids in the occupied West Bank.

How dare she be angry about decades of occupation, oppression, ethnic cleansing and slow genocide? Doesn’t she know that her place is to just accept it and beg to lick Israeli boots?

Worse of all it looks like a fake account posted this. Since she is popular there are many accounts wihh her name. It’s unlikely Ahed, a thoughtful activist, would write the gibberish they claimed she wrote.

How oppressed must one be before they get a moral pass when they call for genocide?

Massacring a whole civilization population to eliminate terrorists does not make you the good guys. Both Hamas and Israel are firmly in the wrong

However, Nariman denied that her daughter wrote the post. “There are dozens of (online) pages in Ahed’s name with her photo, with which she has no connection,” she said.

I wonder if Israel intelligence is too dumb to know not everyone is honest about who they are on social media, or if they don’t care if it was really her.

Don’t care what she (allegedly) wrote. Maybe if settlers went back to brooklyn she’d have no reason to (allegedly) write hateful stuff.

Her message, conveniently missing from this article:

“Come on settlers, we will slaughter you. We are waiting for you in all the cities of the West Bank. What Hitler did to you was a picnic. We will drink your blood and eat your skulls”

posted to her Instagram account that has been tagged for years as part of her book tour and her social life. If she didn’t write it, she still gave someone that platform to spread a message of pure hate and should share the responsibility for their actions.

Her message, conveniently missing from this article:

With absolutely no source whatsoever, while pretending that settlers who violate international law by stealing land is the same as every Israeli…

      Not to mention:

However, Nariman denied that her daughter wrote the post. “There are dozens of (online) pages in Ahed’s name with her photo, with which she has no connection,” she said.

She’s a young woman, you really think Hamas doesn’t take random pictures of young women and make fake accounts?

How often do you help out Nigerian princess you meet on social media?

        With absolutely no source whatsoever

Sorry, I thought you would have done the minimum of research and checked the other posts in !world@lemmy.world first:

JPost is obviously biased, but actually links a primary source - which include screencaps of her account (@ahed_tamimi15) and linking IG posts from others tagging that account as part of her book tour.

You should read that BBC article, it also points out there’s no proof she made the comment, and goes into how illegal “settlers” and the IDF has been harassing her family directly for a decade…

            You mean this:

The post is no longer visible online, nor is the account carrying Ms Tamimi’s name and photo where it was published last week.

Except it is cached in the wayback machine, and there are posts that still tag her. Don’t read one article - read all of them, read some primary sources, and make your own decision. I’m convinced that someone published this on her account, either her or someone she gave access to.

              Why?

Have you legitimately never seen a social media account used for propaganda that just grabs a picture of an attractive women?

Because that’s like the vast majority of their accounts…

Because that account - @ahed_tamimi15 - was tagged by accounts that collaborated with her (including her book’s co-author)

Fake accounts used for propaganda are a dime a dozen - this is not that.

Not a great message, and I certainly don’t support it. But I can see why someone would feel that way when Israel kicked them out of their land and tried to exterminate them. The whole situation builds contempt from both parties.

It was summarized in the article as “called for the murder of settlers in the West Bank”, which is better reporting. Less ragebait.

I’d say that’s downplaying her clear call for genocide. Instead of citing what she actually said, Al Jazeera instead weasels out with the following:

Israeli media reported that Ahed Tamimi had called for the murder of settlers in the West Bank in an Instagram post. An Israeli security source shared the alleged Instagram post with AFP when questioned about the reason for her arrest.

Israeli media, Israeli security source… tacitly implying this is merely the not-credible enemy’s opinion.
