Heyo! Just another random who’s moving over from centralized social media to the Fediverse. Mastodon wasn’t too bad but I love anything like Reddit!

Games, anime, Japanese, food, and music are my loves. Fanfic beats food tho, I can read for hours instead!

This is why I get so fucking mad at the tradwife Tiktok people, who go “Oh feminists are forcing you to go to work, I miss the good old days!”

Like no you fucking don’t, in the “good old days” since the industrial revolution anyone who wasn’t rich had to work their ass off in shit conditions, including women and children. These people never read The Jungle (that shit was horrifying in middle school, and I only read an excerpt), or saw the pictures of coal kids, or the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire back in 1911 that killed 100+ women and girls.

You get to pose for the camera with a full face of makeup and hold your soccer team of kids because your husband is rich and thinks you’re hot. Full stop.

  • I’ve been living with Fedora Silverblue for the past month or two and loving it, except for the fact there is no true good alternative to ShareX (FOSS but on Windows only) for taking screenshots, video clips, audio clips, and having easily configurable hot key galore. Is Wine + Share X a good/viable alternative? Cause Flameshot is very rudimentary compared to it.

I use ShareX for sentence mining when I consume Japanese media for easy Anki flashcard creation.

  • I’m in a beginner Python class and was getting my ass kicked by a lab last week, and although I hate them with all my heart, I tried to use a chatbot to see if it was worthwhile since my friend who’s been doing Java for about 3 years and her classmate frequently seem to use it.

That shit was so unhelpful, as it gave me stuff that was definitely way above the level we’re currently at, and even then my teacher would’ve known it wasn’t my code based on how it was written. In the end I just asked my teacher for help on the first part of the assignment, and when I struggled in the second I actually took the time to go through my code step by step to see where it was going wrong, and that shit was more satisfying in the end.

It just makes me think of those dumbasses who used Google Translate for Spanish class and would use a verb tense we’ve absolutely never learned in class cause they’re too dumb to even cheat right.

This artist is named Gigi D.G. apparently, but their webcomic is called Hiimdaisy, and they did a silly Persona 4 webcomic years ago that people like me still quote to this day. It got a comic dub on Youtube by a channel named Sapphire. I can immediately tell by the artstyle that it’s them.

They have a TV Tropes page.

Go to a highschool or in my case a softball field and you will find plenty. I hated walking around kids who were doing Tiktoks in my HS hallway cause they’re so fucking entitled. Bathrooms weren’t safe either, people did them there too. My fucking teammates were addicted to it, used to do them at tournaments and hotels frequently.

  • I mean yeah, it’s still pretty much in beta rn.

Not ur fault or anything but I’m a little tired of the people who keep questioning loops and pixelfed on being open source and federated. Like, it’s coming/already happened bro, just chill.

People keep being like “Is Pixelfed FOSS yet?” When there’s literally several 3rd party apps available for the service already (I use Pixelix). Loops app is in beta on Android and iOS, it’ll be open source when it’s not absolute dogwater to run (ngl the UI scroll is painful).

But like it just got funding and new members last week, it will be fully FOSS soon enough…

I’m a baby in the FF fandom, 15 was my first ever FF game, although I do know a decent amount due to my mom being a longtime fan since FF6. I found it funny that the game was advertised as “good for newcomers and old fans” cause all I felt was disappointment about my first ever FF game, while my mom sat there pissed thinking about how she wasted money on a day one edition (that we didn’t open till December 2024, lol)

That game… I wanted to like it, but after hearing about how good the previous FFs are, and just knowing how good other JRPG series are, I can’t believe they flopped so hard like that. Good thing is the other games can’t be worse, so that’s nice.

  • I’ve been dual-booting for about 2 weeks now, and I’ve been spending so much time in Fedora Silverblue because it’s just so nice. I mean, most of the shit I do is browser stuff, so I have no issues there. Most of the time I can get apps to work, but my only gripe is not being able to use NextDNS alongside Proton VPN like I did on my windows computer 😭. I just don’t know how to get it to work, and idk how to revert my DNS settings in terminal back to default instead of NextDNS.

But like everything else is fine, and I can still do my schoolwork.

I can finally say that I’m making the move to Linux now, as I’m dual booting Fedora. I plan to try to do my regular browsing and activity on Fedora, while keeping my school work and what little gaming I do (laptop user) on Windows. Hell, once I get confident enough in my Linux skills, I’ll probably move the school stuff over to Fedora too.

I’m doing it mostly cause I’ve read the privacy horror stories, but also because I just hated Windows 11. Like there’s nothing about it that is worth staying for… The excessive resource use, random settings being changed that you have to dig to find, the shitty Co-Pilot ads, and the fact I won’t be able to use office once I graduate… Yeah no.

Good thing is I’m a cyber student, so guess I’m just getting a head start for a easier grade in my future Linux class lol.
