Opposition motions calling for a range of economic and diplomatic sanctions, including the expulsion of Israel’s ambassador in Dublin Dana Erlich, were defeated in the Dail on Wednesday evening.

Proposals for Ireland to refer Israel to the International Criminal Court (ICC) were also voted down.

While the Government did not expel Russia’s ambassador after the invasion of Ukraine, it did back EU sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s regime and also referred its actions to the ICC.

Jung&Naiv’s Jung went on a walk with Yehuda, one of the founders of Breaking the Silence, which is an organization of Israeli soldiers who after their service started publishing what the Israeli army is doing in the occupied territories.

I saw this film and it really changed my view on Israel. The population in the occupied territories is living under unbelievably bad conditions. They are terrorized by the Israeli army every single day. If I had to live under those conditions the only reason to not become a terrorist would be my cowardice.

Many people are cowards, but there will always be some who overcome their fear and go into battle, no matter how hopeless their situation.

In similarly hopeless situations, young Native Americans repeatedly attacked settler towns or treks during the Indian Wars, thereby giving the USA an excuse to exterminate their tribes.

I want to say that anyone who forces people into such living conditions can certainly be seen as sponsoring terrorism. Treating people like that and then asking them not to hate you is just idiotic.

The second thing I thought was: why the fuck did I not know about these conditions?

Like the Arab Spring, you know, which broke out out of the blue. Nobody had told us how badly the people suffered under their dictators, with whom we did good business in the West. “They’re not ready for democracy,” our Middle East experts told us on talk shows, "The Egyptians love Mubarak.

“Yeah, well, they don’t live so well there,” it’s said today about the Palestinians, “but it’s about Israel’s security., so…”

As if there were any chance of increasing security by breeding terrorists. You CANNOT treat a population like that without a certain number of them becoming terrorists, it’s not possible. And those who have all hope lost, many will applaud the terrorists.

If you feel like being disturbed, then please watch this film in which an Israeli soldier is called a traitor by Jewish settlers because he talks about his work as an Israeli occupation soldier.
