Russia’s resurrected military industrial complex is cannibalising the rest of its economy…The Ukraine war may end in Riyadh

Barbashin says Russia’s leaders expect Trump to issue ultimatums to both Kyiv and Moscow: if Volodymyr Zelensky balks at peace terms, the US will sever all military aid; if Putin drags his feet, the US will up the military ante and carpet-bomb the Russian economy.

I do not believe for one second that Trump will issue any ultimatums to Putin. Even if he does, there’s zero chance he would follow through on any threats to Russia.

I feel like we have a better chance of Trump giving Russia military aid than of seeing Trump making any demands of Putin, let alone “carpet-bombing” their economy. Does this author forget that Putin is the Dad Trump wishes he had, and he would do anything to have Putin feign respect for him.

Putin will give a Trump a list of demands. The demands are likely exclude complete dealbreakers such as surrendering Zaporizhzhia and Kherson (I am from Ukraine, this doesn’t seem viable).

Trump will go with putin’s demand; his plan will be to come back to the US public and say “I stopped the war” even though he essentially submitted to putin.

It’s a right-wing source peddling right-wing fantasies. Ukraine probably lost the war on November 5th.

With any luck, Putin will replace all of Donny’s drawers with Novichok of the Loom for the gesture. Win-win

It wouldn’t be out of character for Trump to fuck over a friend/ally of he thinks it would get him an advantage in something he wants

Thats true, but the only thing Trump wants from Putin is to finally hear someone say that Daddy is proud of him.

Putin’s regime is not yet at this point but it would only take one more change in the Middle East to bring matters to a head. If the Saudis again decide to flood the world with cheap crude to recoup market share – as many predict – oil will fall below $40 and Russia will spin out of economic control.

The Ukraine war may end in Riyadh.

It won’t end it anymore than the 2014 agreement did. It might take it a while, but they’ll be back.

Idk if I’ve just gotten careless or what, but I feel like autocorrect errors have cranked up to 11 lately. That and Swype typing used to be pretty on-point, but now I’m having to re-type like everything one keystroke at a time.

Anyone else noticing degradation here, or have I just started my transition into senility?

The Kremlin had banked on a contested election outcome in the US, followed by months of disarray that would discredit US democracy across the world. The polite interregnum has been a cruel disappointment.

An interesting idea, if true. Putin didn’t even think that Trump could win again, and thought that his value as an agitator might be higher than his value as a leader. I wonder if any polonium is being spilled into the Diet Coke machines at Mar-A-Lago…

Given that Trump got elected despite a rape conviction and the revelations of being at best grossly negligent with national secrets (and quite plausibly giving them to the US’s enemies), the downside to Russia is that whatever kompromat they have on him is of no use, as the public won’t care.

He doesn’t have a rape conviction. I hate him too, but it’s important to be accurate. He was found civilly liable for having sexually assaulted E. Jean Carrol, which, yes, means a judge believed he did it, but is distinct from a criminal conviction.

I worry that Trump’s love of bullies is pushing him to pull support for Ukraine and looking for a pretext. If he pulls support, he can point and laugh with the bully and hope to be his friend (but really his posse).

American voters fucked around. And Ukraine’s going to find out. And we’ll need to find work and food and effective housing for the permanent refugees Because they’re gonna need it.

I wish they’d make a hard prediction like “Russia will be unable to feed it’s war machine within X months”
