  • All the alcoholism in both sides of my family, and I’m fretting about my liver, when I’m taking less than the recommended dose of a prescribed medication that could change my life if I could take more.

And I’m on a COPD inhaler and I’ve never touched any death sticks at all.

    Life isn’t fair, I 100% feel you.

I also literally felt you when they put me on amitriptyline and that gave me hbp and they kept trying to act like it wasn’t that big a deal- that with all my other health problems, my blood pressure would start getting off, and I’d have stress, yadda yadda.

It really does feel physically horrible, especially the headaches and sleep issues.

My biggest advice is to never be afraid about a second- or third or fourth opinion with your health, and be gentle but persistent with your goals.

Its the art of pushing without breaking.

Now, this is the experience for me and some unhealthy overachievers, so take the following with a grain of salt:

A lot of times people with underlying health issues actually function their whole lives by pushing until they crash, but hide their crash, and just assume everyone else hides the meltdowns/16-hour sleeps/weekly puke sessions/etc too.

If that happens to describe you, then you’re going to need to get comfortable with giving just 25% effort in a lot of things until you can safely figure out how to actually not hurt yourself.

    I’m serious.

Step out of your skin, and treat yourself as you would your precious little sibling or something. Dote on yourself.

Aaand I’ve typed too much. It gets my own stuff going. But good luck.

  • My dog responds to swear words by doing the kinds stuff you see emotional support dogs do in videos- press on your chest, give you kisses, nuzzle your face, etc.

Except she’s small, blind, and a bit… intense, so she kinda launches into you if you’re sitting, with some intense affection.

IDK why. I guess we don’t swear very often, ao when we do, its special, and we swear with enough gusto for her to think we’re very, very upset.

  • I doubt it, seeing as all the cavity consists of tapered shapes. A mushroom would leave behind some evidence of being sealed inside, and the mushroom cap structure grows above ground, while spuds grow buried underneath soil. It logistically doesn’t quite check out IMO.

What I suspect happens in these kinds of shapes- and I see them fairly often -is that the potato simply expands as it grows, and it just pulls apart at some point of stress, kinda like a warped piece of wood.

Except its an oblate spheroid, so it “cracks” in the center.

This could be some kind of encapsulated material, I don’t know the details of how potatoes protect themselves from foreign bodies.

But, in theory, there could be some kinda dead fungus in there, slain by a potato-based void…?

  • It looks like on your general information post, you didn’t want medical advice, so I do apologize if I’m stepping on toes here, but in another post, you mentioned Trigeminal Neuralgia.
My speech therapist actually got into her line of work because of experiencing face/head/neck neuralgia herself, (on top of being a singer) and so her practice includes manual therapies on top of the more typical speech therapy practice. (apparently its more popular in speech pathology training in the Boston/New England area, so not sure if its as accessible around you)

I suggest looking into manual therapies for treatment, and speech therapists may be a good place to start looking for it. Its made a world of difference for me and my own SLP.

Also, I’m a little curious about Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. It’d be a bit of a long shot in your case, but if you feel the strong urge to bathe in really, really hot water, tell your specialists- its an obscure one, usually associated with children and gets written off as a form of migraine in adults.

  • Offered an ear to a stranger who got a cancer diagnosis. Enabled a notification override for that discord convo so if they ever take me up on that, I’ll get it.
It sounds like its something treatable, as they were talking about working while dealing with it, but still, that’s stressful AF. Cancer is scary.

This isn’t much, but its the latest. Kinda feels nice to realize I did a nice thing even though I’m broke and physically struggling with stuff right now, so thanks.

I think that’ll help me get back to sleep here, actually.

  • Well, I’m not exactly super rich from med bills right now, but being physically well enough to do normal stuff would be a pretty bittersweet miracle. I’d take it in stride.

I have a few loved ones who are pretty well off who would probably want to go on a few vacations with me, and I’d probably go do some cool stuff with some fandoms (I’m not even that into Xena but I want to go to a Xena event some time because that’s real fandom goals IMO) to celebrate nice people who exist and raise awareness of whatever’s killing me.

If I were dying, love to do something dumb like ask the world for enough stickers to cover an entire car with pokemon or ponies or dragons or something.

You would remember some obscure disease if it were the Dragon Sticker car, right?
