AFAIK, and I could be wrong, the one for SF is not just purchasing credits, but electricity from local power suppliers. I believe the way it works here is a certain percentage of electricity is supplied by the renewable energy partners and PG&E is responsible for the remaining percentage. This percentage is based on the number of people who have elected to go the green power route. Obviously they can’t do this on the fly due to how power generation and grids work, but on a month long scale they have more than enough time to modulate generation sources to get close enough.

So let’s say 60% of people are signed up for the program. They’ll get roughly 60% of the city’s power from the renewable sources they have, and allow PG&E to generate the rest. Sure the transmission of power to my place isn’t going to be 100% renewable, but that doesn’t matter as someone who is on the non-renewable plan somewhere will receive the renewable generated power anyway, so the net effect is the same, and I still get cheaper electricity generation charges.

My city (San Francisco) has a program where you can elect to get 100% of your power from renewables which are primarily hydro, solar, and wind and it comes out cheaper every month than buying power from PG&E. It’s pretty great.

Not that they’re the same, but this feels like not letting people be strippers because some people may feel degraded by it. I could understand having legislation that provides protections for employees through employer obligations to ensure a safe environment, but ultimately it’s the choice of the individual if they’re okay with the work or not. I don’t have a dog in this fight, but this feels like Chinese conservatism forcing “modesty” on women.

It’s not just high school. That’s just how chemistry is taught because it’s extremely complex and requires many simplifications to be able to teach it to a lay person in any meaningful capacity. Good instructors will mention these simplifications, but it’s likely your current understanding of certain things (especially organic compounds) is also overly simplified. It’s unfortunately the only way to teach it.

If you have the technical knowledge (or ability to follow instructions) you can setup your torrents behind a VPN using qBittorrent and gluetun in one docker container, and Plex/Jellyfin in another with a shared volume between them. It provides you near bullet proof protection due to the isolated environment and prevents accidentally clicking those .mp4.exes since it abstracts file management away from you. It’s also super user friendly once set up even if you’re not running a media server 24/7 and just want it for your desktop.

If you wanna get fancy you can use the *arr suite of software to do some magic fairy shit including automatic indexing (searching dozens of torrent sites simultaneously), but that can quickly become a deep rabbit hole. Once setup though it’s seamless and kicks ass.

I wasn’t blaming it on anyone. I was just explaining why so many young people, myself included, choose to not give any thought to things they can’t control. It’s not worth the mental energy and will make you depressed and miserable. I’m all for fighting for things that can be changed, but there’s only so much one person can do. Prioritizing what one can give effort to is a much better way to go about it than stressing out about everything wrong with the world.

Because many of us were thrust into an extremely fucked up world where caring all the time will give you anxiety and leave you feeling hopeless. It’s much more productive to focus your efforts on things you can control instead of being upset about the things you can’t. I’m very conscious of the world I leave behind. I respect nature, don’t litter, don’t own a car, limit my meat intake, and most importantly I’m not having children. All of these things will contribute to a better world, but they don’t require me to care about anything outside of my control.

This has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with trying to be okay in an increasingly more depressing world. I just want to exist and not dread everything all the time.

Many of these not-so-etch-literate friends ask how they can do this for themselves using their computers and we shoot them over instructions.

Not OP, but I just use ZeroTier for this since it’s dead simple to setup and free. I’m sure there’s some 100% self-hosted solutions, but it’s worked for me without issue.

Not at my computer so I can’t double check, but I believe you can replace the outer double quotes with single quotes. I’d also remove the spaces before and after the equal sign for the alias. I don’t know about fish but I know bash doesn’t like when you add spaces there.

Almost everything we do is with the goal of automating something, with the whole product often being some helpful automations for people’s lives. The company I work for pulled a billion dollars in revenue and we just automate healthcare data ingress and egress.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it might be worth your time to learn some basic Python. Dead simple language but incredibly powerful.

It’s already a ton of natural cannabis. If you cup your hands together, that is about one ounce of weed which will keep you fucked up for a while. Now imagine 2.7 times that, and since it’s synthetic cannabis it’s way stronger.

Edit: To be clear I don’t think weed should be illegal, and South Korea has draconic drug laws. I use it myself, which is how I know that 2.7 oz is a lot of weed.

23, US. Yes, but I find them pointless for daily driver cars. Modern automatics are more fuel efficient and just make more sense because they’re much easier to operate and less annoying in stop and go traffic.

They’re great for off-roading and racing, but outside of those use cases automatics are just better.
