I don’t follow them.
I don’t follow them.
Hadn’t even been aware of it. I really am out of the loop on this stuff. What social medias was this sentiment most prominent on?
First foss product I remember using was VLC, but what made me start seeking out Foss was F-droid with how I got tired of constantly trying to find something without unnecessary permissions, ads, or IAP.
That was what made me understand the true value of foss, and not just because something isn’t paid with the intent of profiting doesn’t mean it is worse. It can sometimes be much better and more respecting of your privacy with how hungry for telemetry companies are these days.
Yeah, subscription cost has led to apps that would be free on Android being paid on Apple or opting out of being available all together. Not just on iOS but MacOS too, and opting for being available outside the Mac store.
Does source material count? I watched Attack on Titan and loved it and when I found out the final season was not the final season I read the Manga. Was disappointed by the last arc and haven’t picked the anime back up, but at the same time was glad I got through it quick as opposed having the conclusion dragged out over years and then being disappointed like I was with Game of Thrones after a two year long wait. Which wouldn’t have been as disappointing if the wait wasn’t so long, and not a week by week slow delivery of disappointment over it being released all in one day for people to get over quickly.
It played a determining factor of whether I would watch House of the Dragon or not. Had the book not been complete I would not have watched the show not wanting to go through another multi year investment into stories and characters with a one to three year long time gap between season ending in disappointment.
I thought it was good, and the book it is based on is actually complete unlike A Song of Ice and Fire. And the book is good too, so I think it’s worth getting into.
Sometimes there’s some elements that really shows the potential and brilliance that is interesting enough to keep pushing forward. So while it might not hit the point of must see TV right away, going in with the knowledge that it hits its stride in season X helps keep things in perspective. When I’m informed of something like that I’m willing to put up with the slow burn if the pay off is to be great, and there’s at least some redeeming qualities about the show until then.
I didn’t really get captivated by The Wire until season 3. It had some really memorable moments, but it was a show I had to force myself through until season 3. Especially season 2, since the dock workers didn’t catch my interest.
I’m waiting on Linux to get proper HDR support before being able to use one for TV use. Been waiting for that for years.
Yeah, I think there needs to be a push for less of these circle jerk posts. It seem more appropriate for a meme community than something that I at least assume is meant to be about more focused discussion about Linux than a Windows fixation.
Thanks for the explanation. Now I understand the dislike for snap.
Yeah, if they can’t even install steam how the hell do they even deal with getting non steam games to work on Linux, which can be a more involved process than install game and play.
It is surprisingly good at finding generic drivers. First time I actually had to get drivers manually for a printer in years was MacOS Ventura. And then for an old PC I had to get some custom drivers that worked on newer kernel for an old Nvidia card due to the generic one causing freezing.
Yeah, I genuinely do not understand having used Windows, Linux, and MacOS. They are making it sound like it’s trying to decipher some unknown language. Even a quick YouTube would have solved how to install a exe.
Been wanting to see something new since Glory. Nice recommendation.
Love the Deck. I actually finish games with retro or pixel art aesthics with the deck compared to my PC or consoles. The pick up and go aspect and the smaller screen helps me keep coming back to it instead of abandoning it.
I think Better Call Saul started off better than Breaking Bad, since the change to the more law focused conflict felt so refreshing over cartels. I think two season were absolute peak. I loved the law office drama.
But, later seasons started leaning more heavy on the cartels and trying to add suspense to what we knew already happened didn’t hit the same way as the early seasons. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending either with it feeling like it kind of dropped the morally gray aspect of certain characters, and kind of entered cheesy territory.
If news anchors were threatened with being replaced with AI vtubers I wonder how happy they would be then to do whatever the teleprompter tells them to do.
I love Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Both have amazing soundtracks too. I need to go watch Space Dandy while I wait for this to come out.
Waited so long feels like its been like half a decade. I hope it’s as good as the first season I which I loved.
