If you got rid of timezones, you’d still end up creating it in all but name since the vast majority of business will be occurring during daytime hours around the world. For example, an office in Tokyo sending emails to their NYC office at 0800 UTC (currently 0400 EDT in NYC) wouldn’t end up getting answered for at least 3-4 hours when those employees started logging in. In other words, people would still be doing calculations in their heads to know when business hours are in that region, essentially recreating timezones.
Not necessarily. In Teams, it shows the user’s specific hours they work as well as the time difference (this person is 2 hours behind you). All it would need is to remove the time difference and just display the time they work.
A person in Japan would just put in their signature or it would be in the application that they work from 0400 to 1200 while you still work 0800 to 1600 and you’d have your answer.
This is Grubhub and all those other apps when I get a craving at home and don’t want to drive or can’t drive because I’m not sober. I browse through and see some stuff that looks decent and get all the way to the end to find out that my $10 worth of food is now going to be $25 plus tip to be delivered to me. So I just close the app and then get one of those stupid notifications “hey you still have stuff in your cart! Come back and finish your order”.
No, fuck you.
Haha I am just now realizing what your comment said. I guess I was more tired than I realized last night.
Speaking as someone else who had a 7900XTX, this was sort of common. It’s just that a lot of game devs aren’t designing their games and apps with anything AMD (maybe Intel too) GPU related. The market is mostly Nvidia so that’s what their games are looking for when it tries to search up compatibility.
Most of the time, it’s just that they don’t officially support it but it still runs without any issue. Since their game is looking for “Nvidia” but sees “AMD”, it’s assuming you aren’t using a compatible GPU. Even more so because Alyx came out in 2020(?) and the 7900XTX came out in late 2022 so the game really doesn’t know that this GPU exists.
The game/app runs without any issue. The game just doesn’t have this specific card to check for a quick compatibility and throws this error as a “just in case”.
There were some rare times where the game/app legitimately did not run. The Oculus app was one of these. VR worked perfect fine through SteamVR but never with the Oculus app since that app was designed for Nvidia GPUs.
Don’t forget the lawyers. Where would Nintendo be in 2024 without those guys and gals?!
I always go for 720 or 1080 despite having decent 4K TVs. My reasoning is file size too but because I don’t have a ton of space to spare for all the stuff I want to store. I have about 2TB left but that’s going to get used up eventually.
There are some things I’ll go for the high quality stuff like Super Mario Bros which looks amazing but that’s rare for me.
30GB for one movie is nuts.
Damn, I was feeling a little pre-nostalgic for that era.
The screenshots and video on the Steam page doesn’t go into the detail of what you can do when it comes to controlling your Sim-like characters. But this video shows more of that aspect of the game https://youtu.be/BEys39TsRdw?si=t3HU3vFlNO9q0O0T
Granted, it’s a lot of games in one like other top down tycoon manager games and has some elements of tower defense.
Most recent, but not the absolute worst, was ripping my pants at work. I bent down to pick something up and heard the rip. It was over my crotch region too. Thankfully I had boxers on but was still pretty embarrassed.
Thankfully my boss was cool about it and I just drove over to Costco down the street and got a new pair and changed in the back of my car. He make a joke when I got back which was fine.
Space Colony is an older game that was like Sims in space. I got this at Big Lots years ago and played some of it and apparently this is the remastered version on Steam.
It’s not Lemmy as far as I know, but Dread is an onion site like that other site we don’t mention.
I worked with adults with developmental disabilities in my early adult life, specifically those with behavioral issues and some with gang affiliations (some of them may have been on the spectrum or may not have but used our program as a way out of jail/prison).
I got punched in the chest, spit in the face, threatened with stabbing, and more. I’m sure at some point I was either slapped or punched in the face too.
Been that way for a while on my iPhone and I’ve never had Premium or whatever the fuck YouTube calls their paid subscription now.
It doesn’t work on music videos or videos that are for the music, like music with an album art in the background unless YouTube hasn’t categorized it correctly.
Went through this at work and we owned the device and it was a nightmare. They make you wait like 6 weeks for a single email that never came to us and we ended up forgetting about it by the time the 6 weeks was up.
It was mainly around Ubisoft’s The Crew as the latest conversation. This was about a month ago.
Ubisoft took the game offline and also removed from customers’ digital libraries with a message suggesting they try the newer installments in the series instead of the game they paid for.
I think your cert plans are good, but I think you should also get a Microsoft cert relating to security as well just to diversify and also be appealing to orgs that are using Defender and give you another perspective. Microsoft has exam vouchers every so often so you have the opportunity to schedule an exam for free if you participate too.
I am currently unofficially the security guy at my job in my role because no one else was taking it on and I have similar goals as you and this is the route I’ve been taken thus far.
If you have the freedom in your current role, see if there are any security related tasks you can take on to gain some experience if that sounds appealing too.
Most boomers who come to me for free tech support are the ones who don’t know how or even that they can bypass those and will be the ones to pay to read the article.
Yeah the ones at the Post Office, right?
It’s a play on the rap group “Run DMC” and instead “Run CMD” which is running Command Prompt on Windows which shows the C:\ while it waits for you to enter your command.
