Snap is slower and worse than Flatpak (the most popular alternative) in most ways, with very few pros that will likely be caught-up-to soon too
The limited benchmarks I’ve seen put the new X Elite at slightly less efficient than the M2 Pro (let alone M3 Pro). It only gets marginally higher scores when operating at 3x the wattage.
Also, let’s not imagine even for a second that notoriously terrible ARM are going to make it easy to support this chip, especially not in the long term.
I agree, hence why I said Australia is like 25% still about rehab, were 75% like the US where it’s just punitive. If we actually moved towards proper rehab like some European states then we’d see improvement in outcomes.
I love Fedora but definitely Mint for a normie. Even then I question if you should install Linux at all since reliably being able to do what you need to do is priority one, especially for a student, and if he may be blocked in his work as a result I don’t think it’s a great idea.
Why? Prison is supposed to be rehabilitative. In America it is 100% punitive instead, but Australia retains like 25% of the rehabilitation concept.
First of all, LOTR didn’t replace all actors in any battle scene. They used their brand new ‘MASSIVE’ software for the tens of thousands of characters too distant to distinguish from the hundreds and thousands real actors used that were visible.
The other difference is that scale - it was literally not possible for LOTR to have enough extras due to complexity, local population, and budget. This is a scene with only a couple dozen people on screen at any moment.
Transmission is awesome because it’s simple. It only does what you need and has the best UI for doing so.
You don’t care about the many other ways that not using and supporting Chromium is better, ie. not having Google’s new invasive advertising system?

I think it’s awesome that different Batman stories can examine different versions of Bruce and his position as a billionaire - it allows different aspects of the world to be interrogated: criminals sometimes doing crime because they know of no other way to survive in a capitalist hellscape, the apathies of billionaires to the evils of their financiers, Batman’s obsession with order leasing him to militarise the streets of the city he loves, etc.
