He didn’t have to have fastest lap. He was winning the race. He was saving tires and running at a consistent pace.

It really doesn’t work that way. When in front, you only go as fast as you need to most times.
2 seconds is a long time. Max was out of DRS range in a lap. Zack Brown even said the Red Bull was faster.
He is motivated by his passion for competition, just like all professional drivers. Guy like that doesn’t slack off.
In the end, F1 is kind of a soap opera.
Obviously not to a STFU moment. But, that moment will come if he causes grief inside the team. He knows this and the rumor is he’ll have an announcement soon, so maybe he doesn’t care.
Sooner or later the team will abandon you, Carlos. Wanna make it sooner?
Two times a day Fred is right.
It’s closer than it has been, I’ll grant that. But, Max just walked away after regaining the lead. It takes a lot of development work to get those extra tenths out of those cars. I don’t anticipate things changing much through the year.
When George got his hole shot, I settled in thinking it was going to be good. But, when the Red Bull went past a lap later I knew it was the same old thing. The Red Bull is still the quickest on the grid.
Ha! Too bad you weren’t interested previously
If that’s wild to you, so is your own ignorance.
Bernie started by selling motorcycle parts at meets. He ended up building a billion dollar industry. He built it. He didn’t have a hundred chimps writing code in the back room. He did it. For that he is owed some respect. Is he eccentric? Sure. Did he do dodgy stuff as you say? Sure. I suppose if you take a review of self made billionaires you’ll find those qualities in many of them. As far as Flavio being a buddy, I’m sure he himself questioned that through the years he ran his club in Monaco after he was banned.
Last time KMag raced as a team with Hulkenberg he received all sorts of ire.
Really? Trying to prove something?
Bernie wasn’t an owner decades ago, so he didn’t have control of the company. That’s simple.
I missed your “joke”. But, the point is that if they were such good buddies, why did one level a lifetime ban on the other?
I find that most people don’t know what they are talking about when it comes to Bernie

Bernie sold off F1 in 2000. He stayed on as an employee.
Flavio was given a lifetime ban for Crashgate. He took it to court and after a time won a reversal.
Sure, blame Bernie. He hasn’t had control of F1 for decades.
Further, I have to point out that Bernie was in control when Flavio got his lifetime ban.
Flavio will be remembered for two things;
being a cheater
being a friend of Epstein
The man is a sleeze.
Who would you rather be a figurehead of your sport? Flavio or Mario Andretti? F1 did not choose wisely
IDK what you expect Merc to do. They have a duty to protect their employees. What they don’t have is the knowledge base to evaluate a threat. Had I been Toto, I would have done the same. Better to error on the side of caution than a lifetime of regret.
He doesn’t have as much of an advantage. But, he still has one. As the other cars get quicker so will Red Bull. So will he keep that advantage? Time will tell, but he’s running up the points meanwhile.
