I have prime for 70% shipping, 25% automatic photo/video uploads, and 5% video streaming.
I think the only amazon things I’ve watched are The Boys and Swarm. Both good but not worth a subscription. I also have other ways to get these shows if needed.
It’s really good. I hope they make a couple with this same style.
Looks pretty decent…
It being huge is an understatement. They have dorms where people live on-site and it’s they are massive. Multiple soccer complexes and tons of restaurants all on campus.
I visited the BYD factory years ago. I have no idea how big it is compared to others but it absolutely blew my mind. I was up on like 5th floor and when they sounded the lunch bell it looked like ants out the window. I think they said it was about 600k employees in that building.
Its odd because on paper you’re right. Life Aquatic should also be in the weird bucket but I don’t put it there for some reason. It worked much more somehow.
I think in 30 years when I think back on Wes Anderson I’ll appreciate his recent run of “weirder movies”.
However, right now I desperately want him to release another Darjeeling, Life Aquatic, or Grand Budapest Hotel.
French Dispatch and Asteroid City were defiantly Wes Anderson movies but they lacked a solid story that will stick with me.
I thought up until the last episode it was really solid. That last episode was real bad though.
I was in college when Old School came out. Feels like a similar experience.
God dammit. Why do people keep saying the thing that will TOTALLY GET ME HYPED?
Trying to decide if I should slug myself out to the theater or catch this one at home.
It’s funny. In theory they should 100% be something that is a must see in the theater thing. However, they have become to me a “I’ll probably watch this randomly in 7 months on a Friday night” thing.
It’s my guilty pleasure show. I’m still liking it.
There are some really dumb episodes here and there but the good ones mostly out weigh the bad.
It’s terrible and they just tacked the American Psycho name on it in the 11th hour.
I wonder what a “25 years later” American Psycho 2 would look like? How would he deal with aging? What would be his current obsessions?
And yes I know there is already an American Psycho 2 but I think we can all agree to ignore that.
I think for all movies the main discussion threads should open morning of release or maybe the day before.
For the super hot movies it would be good to do prerelease thread (1 week ahead), regular discussion (day of), and a post release thread (1-2 week after release).
Also, wanted to be sure I wasn’t being shitty with my comment. This is a great format and I’m loving that we’re getting good discussions like this going.
I think another cool idea would be to do a throw back Thursday thing where a thread is opened on old movies. They could be left open forever to recreate the old IMDb forum days.
I think it would be better if we waited for these discussion posts to hit just as the movie releases. By the time it comes out this post will be over a week old.
Maybe if it’s something really big we could have prerelease discussion and then the released discussion.
I saw the trailer for this at a movie with my kid the other day. I thought it looked like an interesting new art style for it.
Maybe I’ll hate it in when I see the movie but for now I’m positive on it.
I wonder if you only look at directors of films >$50M if that number would be higher. I feel like there are probably a bunch of randos that make a $300k movie and never do anything again.
I’m was going to come in with Booooo! But I think you’re Nooooo! Will cover my feelings.
This is truly terrible news. It’s so strange when things like this happen and they 100% drop what makes them magic. It would be like that amazing fresh local Pizza place pivoted to doing terrible cheap frozen pizza.
