Right, but the lower tax burden isnt worth the authoritarianism. The assholes who can stomach sacrificing poor minorities and immigrants for a few gimme policies are not doing something noble. These are politicians we’re talking about. They’re not here for us. They’re here for themselves, and they are lying and antagonizing in order to get power because they know what people want and what certain people are afraid of. Their goal is to bait people with fear, entice them with populism and then…what? You catch more flies with honey and a hatred of honeybees.
It’s called populism for a reason. Trump ran on a populist platform in 2016. Populism can be Democratic or authoritarian, meaning it can be genuine concern about capitalism and the imbalance between the ownership class and the working class or it can be the sugar coating on a bitter, authoritarian pill—or, in other words, a fuckin lie.
Right? Can students use the internet on this test? Because the LLMs have the entire internet to search for the answers, and I guarantee you those textbooks and exam questions are online and searchable.
Because it makes more sense that the euro and dollar would join together into a combined currency than Europe and he US getting together to agree on manhole covers.
Bill gates accepts your terms
Of course they didn’t. They literally had every establishment democrat coordinatedly drop out of the primaries in exchange for cabinet positions to throw their support behind Biden when Sanders started winning the primaries in 2020. Like, it’s been clear they’d learned nothing. And thanks to the idiotic two party system, they got rewarded for that maneuver with the opportunity to say “we told you so! Look, we got trump out of office!” And when they lose this time…they won’t learn a goddamn thing. Again.
Let me give you a different perspective, actually. It doesn’t matter as much that you do interesting things. What matters more is you manage to be funny and appear laid back enough that people won’t be put off. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned anything in my profile that was a genuine interest. I answer any question as a joke, any time I send an opening message I try to make it a joke I find funny, and that usually works.
Remember: those apps are banking on you staying on the app and spending money on Longer you’re there, the more likely they can get you to spend some money. Their business isn’t to successfully get you off the app. It’s to keep you on. So before you ever get too discouraged and down on yourself, remember that you’re working upstream against a soulless corporation.
Well, not everyone gets every joke. But that one, used in lgbtq spaces, has historically not been reacted to the way you reacted. It was seen for what it was: a stupid joke about the absurdity of the response. Not any commentary whatsoever on any sexual identity/preference. You took it the wrong way. Fine. Sorry it touched a sore spot. But it was definitely not meant to be taken that way. Such is life.
lol you think I’ve never been bullied? I know full well what bullying is. Of course I didn’t go into your history. I had no idea you were gay. That doesn’t change the joke, though. I’m sorry to have hit a sore spot for you, that definitely wasn’t my intention. The joke was meant to be on me. The joke wasn’t that loving your goddamn kid is “gay.” How the hell could it be? The joke was that the reaction was meant to stand out as absurd and stupid. The joke was meant to point to my reaction as the thing that stood out as backwards. Not your love for your child. Nor being gay. It wasn’t even about the common use of the word “gay.” It was the idiotic caricature of someone who refuses to engage in anything remotely human or sentimental—it was basically a joke on toxic masculinity. Do you see that?
For some reason voyager is converting my gif file to a jpeg, so I gotta share a direct link to a website that feels like it somehow survived the 2000s unchanged

It wasn’t bullying. It was meant to make you laugh. It was meant to make everyone laugh. It wasn’t homophobic. It was the absurdity of reacting to flippantly something entirely wholesome and sweet that all comments were gushing over. Because the answer was sweet and wholesome. It’s really the kind of joke you can only make in an accepting and pro-lgtbtq community. Because the response was meant to be absurd. I didn’t realize it’d hit such a sore spot for you. I didn’t think it could, honestly. Because you way fuckin overreacted.
It was…clearly a joke. A silly reaction to something that was wholesome and sweet. Have you never had a sense of humor? Or is the lack of one more recent and something maybe a doctor should know about
Edit: wow. You really went back in my comment history to try to harass me? It doesn’t bother me as much as it worries me. Real creepy and, honestly, kinda sad behavior? You good?
Dude, same. My e-bike is hands down my favorite addition to my life. Where I had to deal with the train or the traffic and the waiting and the crowds, now I hop on my bike and cruise lah dee dah meep meep but when I am running late for work I’m all like eeeer vroom vroom skrrrt and I bomb down the bike path like aw yeah. And I’m honestly rarely late anymore because I get everywhere in about half the time it would’ve taken me otherwise.

Well check this out, there are literally zero women there. Interesting.
I dunno about you guys, but using a rideshare app, I’ve been canceled on numerous times, by multiple drivers. Often at the last minute, when maybe he app thinks they’re taking too long to reach me? I had a driver I was watching get closer and closer to me, and when they were around the corner the app changed my driver to someone a couple miles away. That shit didn’t happen with taxis because we weren’t reliant on some shitty algorithm that is only coldly making the most rides happen per minute to get higher margins for the company.
There are definitely drawbacks to the old school cab system, but I don’t like the app system. Sure, the meter would go up as you drive and sometimes you’d have to have an idea of where you’re going to not get screwed by a dishonest driver, but the app also randomly charges way more for the same ride depending on the app’s fuckin mood.
Crazy what we’ve let private companies do just because they marginally made our lives somewhat more convenient (on the surface).
Or run the piping in the ceiling?
Right? Like…”which parts about being manipulated in order to take the money from you that you didn’t even want to have to rely on in a system that doesn’t make sense and actively hates you and uses you and then chews you up and spits you out do you not like?”
