My friend has so far fried 4 or 5 steamdecks, ROG Ally and two power banks before he took my advice to buy a type c cable tester and to stop using any charger that didn’t come with the device until he could test them.

Turned out it was a damaged cable, I think it was a CC line was no longer working.

I’ve had a couple of cheaper Chinese type c and usb A multi port chargers fail; I manage to fry like 3 sex toys before I realised the type A ports were outputting 12v, and at some point something went wrong and the type c fried my phone (which I guess is on me for continuing to use the charger after the issue with the type A ports)

I’ve not started yet, but I’m going to learn automatic when I go to learn, my GF has been learning manual for over 2 years because her dad and our friend who drives said that it makes the most sense to, when in reality that’s just because of what they were told based on outdated advice.

She even has an automatic waiting for her once she finally passes, but she’s stubborn and doesn’t want to switch to learning automatic, it’s really frustrating how stubborn she is about not giving up or approaching it from another direction.

She has dyslexia and the British Dyslexic Association even recommends that dyslexics learn automatic as it’s a known thing they struggle with. She even had to write L and R on her hands, bless her.

I’ve heard some people benefit from intensive driving courses, where you do like 2 solid weeks of lessons then take the test, but no clue if they have those in your country

I’ve suggested to her, if she really wants a manual licence then get the automatic licence, then decide if she really wants the manual, as she’ll be more comfortable with roads and driving and can just focus on the manual aspect

They don’t necessarily require a starter explosive, certain types do of course. It’s more about overcoming the initial energy required, for example the arc from an electric arc lighter could probably overcome that requirement in a lot of scenarios.

Idk how true that is, it’ll be highly dependent on what you’re trying to dissolve.

This sounds to me more like the advice I’ve heard for using isopropyl for sterilizing equipment and surfaces, its more to do with how quickly the pure stuff evaporates. Evaporate too quickly and it doesn’t sterilize, whereas 70% is best of both worlds.

The linked app Stremio will work on android, you just download the apk directly as it’s not on available on Fdroid, the add-on will work with android and VPNs work on android either natively or via there own app, depends on who your VPN provider is.

I’d suggest using a VPN, if you’re in a first works country, basically torrenting can be recorded by your ISP/movie studios etc, whereas streaming typically won’t be

Most VPNs typically will have a desktop app (if using windows) that you can use to make sure it’s on and functional etc (and can even force apps to not be able to torrent when its turned off)

If you live in a 3rd world country don’t worry about the VPN

Beyond that, what you want is in terms of simplicity is something like Stremio with the torrentio add-on installed, this will allow Stremio to find torrents for whatever you want to watch, you can select quality, language, etc with it. It’ll work for film and TV.

I find it interesting how it appeared clear in 2016 US election that Reddit for example was being a target of Russian interference, (alongside other places like Facebook and Britain during Brexit), even with Russia in a weakened state China appears to have seen what was being done as valuable and taken up the task

The playbook always seems to be to stoke wedge issues, including funding groups on both sides of the political isle; funding the NRA and BLM seems to be two of the most common examples. The reality being that the amount of disruption and destabilisation that is achieved, it must be that these governments must see it as good value for their money.

To add, the government wanting to do this mere weeks after basically saying they want to backdoor encrypted messaging services, makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable. The reality being that they are almost certainly not connected, but you still can’t help but have that niggling feeling at the back of your mind.

Seeing that you mentioned MS365 imma just have my mini vent here, my mum is over 60 and her work has just started using MS365, so far run into a bunch of minor frustrations, but two big ones that she wasn’t able to figure out herself, and damn near stumped me:

First was trying to create an email group, so it’s easier for her to mass email her different classes, go to create the group, realise there’s a bunch of other junk like chats and shared files as part of the group thing which isn’t needed (and can’t be used by non ms emails anyway, over half of them) but whatever, get most of the way through it then realise that two people aren’t included in any group… ok that’s odd, just says they can’t be added to the group, turns out that they’ve likely had some permission set regarding not being able to be added to groups.

45 minutes in at this point and they cannot be added at all, decide to go back and manage to find the option to create a bog standard email group (list?) hidden away under a drop-down menu, this is what I wanted to and thought I was making in the first place, then realise I cannot import or move over the already existing groups to the simpler email lists, so have to start again…

Finally get all of that done and my mum starts to send her zoom links out except nothing is hyperlinking automatically, try to search links, hyper links, linking, etc via the help and nothing of relevance comes up, turns out outlook Web doesn’t support that, only the desktop app does but nothing mentions that. Manage to track down some random forum post that states that automatic linking only works if the email is set to plaintext format, not html…

Absolutely ridiculous

This is one that seriously gets me as to why we don’t do this more, it would make so much sense. Obvious benefits are power generation, but also when you consider, it would significantly reduce how scorching hot large carparks get in the sun, depending on the style of the solar canopy being built it could also massively reduce the amount of water flow onto the ground reducing some wear on the tarmac in addition to some hazards.

Also for places like the UK where we typically don’t have huge amounts/extended periods of snow, as long as the canopy is sufficiently designed for the additional weight, you could ameliorate the need to salt the car parks, once again increasing the life of the tarmac.

It would also keep people’s cars much cooler, in the sun, and make things generally a lot cooler below the canopy.

I mean those statements seem like they’re in contradiction of each other; if attention spans are lower (which I don’t disagree with) then people are more likely to debate/discuss a wider range of topics though perhaps in less detail.

This doesn’t necessarily mean collectively people will be able to hold onto these points to bring about effective change, though it doesn’t preclude it either.
