Congrats on quitting. That took a lot of determination, I’m sure.

Most kids aren’t vaping anything with nicotine in it. Most are vaping 0mg juices and trying to look cool blowing clouds. Nicotine isn’t a super addictive chemical, it’s about as addictive as caffeine.
This really varies by state, based on the smoking policies. In Republican led states, smoking policies have led to shorter life spans.
Most countries have set a legal age for drinking alcohol.
Not saying that I agree with RS’s policy proposal but what is wrong with targeting smoking cessation especially amongst the poor? If poor people quit smoking, that’s better for their health, the health of those around them/who live with them (secondhand smoke), and their wallets.
Can you say what hotel.group this is? I want to go there.
It is! I added the fun fact and then realized that someone might think I was deliberately referencing the show. :)
It’s worth watching - it’s very charming.
Fun Fact: The lead actor, Johnny Flynn, is also a singer-songwriter and did the (lovely) theme song for The Detectorists.
Thank you for this (and other horror movie) write ups. I’ve grown to avoid most horror movies (I’ve become really sensitive to them aka more chicken), but I do still find them fascinating. And based on your recap and review I am never ever going to see this one.
It sounds like WC was going to excess to make some jaded person deliberately uncomfortable. Like, out-grindhousing grindhouse.
That is how I’ll remember him. For those who haven’t seen The Singing Detective,.please check it out.
Mindhunter is one of the reasons why I like to wait until a show has concluded before I commit to watching it, especially dramas.
The Mandalorian has lots of cameos/small surprising roles by comedians and comic actors. It’s like a comedy Easter egg in almost every episode.
I just asked my husband. He said that he watched the show from beginning to end. This is a direct quote from him: “No one is going to be a better person for having watched it, but it somehow kept me sucked in until I finished it.”
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It certainly stayed true to its roots, maybe too much so (it took a long time to get where it was going, just like most late 60s movies). I would’ve said the movie was meandering and meh but the last 10 minutes were my favorite 10 minutes in any movie this year.
I just finished Destination Wedding and I should’ve hated it. I thought it was going to be a sunny, goofy romcom but instead it was like the poor man’s Woody Allen. Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder were playing way far against type, seemingly miscast. But I enjoyed seeing them in such different roles playing relentlessly miserable weirdos. Their sex scene was the best at being the worst.
I didn’t read the article, just saw the picture in the post and thought "that dude looks a lot like Rahm Emanuel. " TIL.
Michael being self-righteously and self-centered-ly good, and everyone else being earnestly and obliviously (and maybe even endearingly) terrible sounds about right. :)
My husband and I are stuck a few.eps into season 1. I can’t believe I’m going to try again, lol, but this thread is persuasive. I’m going.to have to read some summaries.of the episodes we’ve watched to remember where we are.in the story… (My husband says the only thing he can recall is that dude’s haircut.) Third times the charm they say.
About when does The Expanse get good? I’ve tried twice and bailed.
I’m American and I can’t think of a comedy show that makes fun of Indian food. Can you name one of them so I can check it out?
I’d say most medium to large sized cities in the US have Indian restaurants, so it’s not so unusual.
