I recall this being announced earlier in the year, and it’s the result of current (5yr) contracts expiring and not specifically tied to a recent development in the war or anything like that. CERN just decided not to renew contracts with Russian scientists who are solely affiliated with Russian institutes but had to wait for them to run out, and as the article points out, this already happened to scientists from Belarus back in June.
All 10 of us here stand united on this most exquisite and elevated of horses!
It’s like, this isn’t really a successful venture, right? We’re not really thriving like we were in the past, are we? We’re likely never going to get anything like that back either, huh
It’s always the people with 0 post submissions complaining about this. It’s always someone else’s responsibility to create communities and find the content to fill them and it’s never enough. Just imagine how much more active the Lemmy side of the Fediverse would be if everyone submitted one article, meme, video, or podcast, etc. a day in some niche community of their choosing. But hey, I guess shitting on the opportunity we have to start fresh is a lot easier than committing to contribute to the slow but organic growth of another news aggregate.

At this point, refusing to fact-check a debate is just a tacit admission that you want to help the GOP. After all, JD Vance is on record saying he has no problem lying and making up things if he thinks it’s politically advantageous. Tim Walz shouldn’t have to cut into his time correcting the lies of an established liar. Why have journalists involved at all? Seems like it’d be cheaper to hire some bozo off the street to read the questions and only enforce time limits on the Democrat. You don’t need Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan to accomplish that.

If you don’t understand that controlling the infowars domain, his social media accounts, and his businesses 20+ year old subscriber records are valuable to right wing grifters, I don’t know what to tell you.
Yep, that’s what I said.
I think whoever buys infowars(dot)com should donate it to Dan and Jordan of the Knowledge Fight Podcast. That would be the perfect way to end things.
“The other night I was watching this movie — I was watching this movie called Fright Night, Freak Night or some type of night but it was about vampires. I don’t know if you know but vampires are some cool people are they not? But let me tell you something that I found out: a werewolf can kill a vampire did you know that? I never knew that. So I don’t want to be a vampire anymore I wanna be a werewolf.” - Herschel Walker, November 16th 2022
NC has a legitimate chance of going blue this cycle, and if that happens, it will be in no small part because of Mark Robinson. This guy is one of the worst candidates I’ve ever seen. Which is really saying a lot because the GOP have been running some absolute shitheads in the MAGA era.
People overblowing shit like wild.
He bought the rope
They need to release the video of him making the purchase. They claim to have it but refuse to release it. There is no reason not to. So until that happens, there’s no reason to believe the cops.
Edit: 🥾😋’s get blocked.

Hmm I done goofed 🤷♂️ Try this:
[Trump pulls out a sharpie and starts circling the wrong part of the map]
“I AM PLACING TARIFFS ON PENGUINS UNTIL THEY GIVE US THEIR OIL AND SHOW ME HOW TO DO ALL THE DANCE MOVES FROM HAPPY FEET!”
If cats didn’t want to be pestered, they should’ve thought about that before they decided to have such cute lil feets.
Genius = born into wealth
These pricks were both born on third base and think they hit a triple.
Let’s go bulldoze former nazi concentration camps. We have plenty of photos and videos right?
Those concentration camps weren’t built 43 years after the war by the descendants of Nazis to continue intimidating Jewish people, now were they? Do you see me claiming we should destroy civil war forts? No. You’re just trying to shift the discussion because your original point was weak enough to be countered by simply reminding you that “cameras exist.”
Now, I’m not going to continue indulging you by defending myself from claims I never made in the first place. We’re done here.
Take a damn picture before you melt 'em down if you want. Traitors don’t deserve statues, and racists don’t get to keep them.
The monument in question was erected in 1908 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a group which exists to this day and remains inextricably linked to the Ku Klux Klan. Let those traitors pay to store their garbage if they want to.
Put them in a huge warehouse for academics to study or something.
We don’t need to keep these statues to understand their racist purpose, nor to document their removal for the historical record.
You misread my comment. I said “just” as in “simply” not “recently.” Words can have multiple meanings and uses. My point was that this is not an abrupt decision and has been in the works for quite a while because of the war, but it was not based on a decision “specifically tied to a recent development” in said war because it had been announced months ago in June when Belarus got kicked out. They just/simply have been waiting for the contracts of both groups of scientists to expire before sending them home for quite some time.
