That’s where I’m at. I moved back home after my divorce about 8 years ago and it’s been really nice. My mom and I have always been really close, and it’s nice to spend more time together as we get older. I’d rather pay rent to her and help with the bills than pay a landlord, too.

Yeah I can see that. I guess where I have an issue is that the old white guy who shot up a Planned Parenthood a few years back was taken alive (and he’s far from the only example) and it’s like, why is it that they can negotiate and talk guys like that down but don’t bother to even attempt to de-escalate with brown kids? After reading the rest of your comments, you could’ve just saved a lot of time by saying you don’t know how the government works. And if anyone else happens to read this and think, “Hey that’s a good point,” no, it isn’t. It’s ignorant at best, actively malicious at worst. That’s why I hauled ass to the doctor and got a bisalp scheduled asap. I ended up getting them to agree to a hysterectomy this year, which is what I really wanted, but I wasn’t willing to take a chance on that not happening. I’m no longer in the young category, but I was only 38 and potentially still fertile (and way more likely to have complications from being “geriatric”).

I tried to rewatch John Tucker Must Die as something to have on in the background the other night, and wooow did that not hold up. I only made it to where they give him estrogen (which is insane and terrible) and he starts acting like a stereotypical “girl on her period” before I bailed. So many of the movies targeted at teenagers and young adults in that era are so bad. They went all in on punching down, and the amount of rape and sexual assault is wild in retrospect.

Oh absolutely not. No thank you. The world at large has my permission to smother me with a pillow if I hit 90 and don’t die. But it’s fine, I’m sure the microplastics/ultraprocessed food/climate change/whatever will take me out before that.

I know parents didn’t know how bad these places were years ago, and the people running them put on a good show, but anyone still willing to put their kid in one after they’ve been pretty thoroughly exposed should lose all of their children. This shit is sick.

There are a few companions in Mass Effect that seem to inspire a way stronger reaction from other fans and I don’t totally get it. Like, I like Thane, and I’m sad about what happens to him, but some people are SO into him and I don’t get it. I also love Tali and restarted my first nearly complete playthrough when I realized I couldn’t save her and Legion, but there are fans who are full on obsessed. Then again, my love for Garrus can’t be contained, so I’m sure some people don’t get that.

I haven’t had any issue finding those amenities in hotels in Europe (at least in Berlin, Munich, Madrid, and Málaga, which is not an exhaustive study by any means). I’ve seen a few that look to be entire small apartment buildings converted into hotels, which isn’t great for the local housing market, but all the ones I’ve stayed at were clearly built for that purpose. So that’s the good news, I guess.

Did you read the rest of the thread? I already acknowledged that I was wrong about that part, but they’re saying they can’t get work because of him while still refusing to condemn him. The GoFundMe says he was “involved in a tragic shooting incident,” which is a pretty weasely way to say he killed people.

I also question that it really has anything to do with him. He’s certainly not having any issues making money, and there are a concerning number of people who consider him a hero, or at the very least aren’t bothered by what he did (see the comments on this post for a whole lot of evidence). Surely some of them are hiring.

Ok then I retract the part about driving. But I have a hard time feeling sympathy for her being unable to get a job. She’s repeatedly defended him and said she stands by him, and she allowed her 17 year old to buy a gun he couldn’t legally have and to drive without a license. Being associated with him is her doing. I have a family member who was a teenage white supremacist piece of shit (who was thankfully stopped by the FBI before he killed anyone), and you can bet nobody thinks I’m associated with him because I make it very clear where I stand. If I said he was a good person and I’ll always support him, I wouldn’t be shocked if employers said nah.

Huh. Have any of them considered a job? If the mom was capable of driving her child to another state to murder some people, I bet she could drive for uber or something. Or be a getaway driver for other criminals, idk.

I wish they’d all been more like you. Instead, all of the ones I had until my mid 20s were the kind of people who would tell us the policy was X and we absolutely could not do Y, and the second a customer bitched, suddenly Y was fine and they made us look like liars or idiots.

The thing that sucks is that the managers aren’t going to be the ones with the power to do that. Then again, all of my managers were spineless as fuck when I worked in a grocery store (literally never had employees’ backs), so they’ll probably just do an override on the price anyway.

They’re going to end up with a bunch of people complaining to the manager about the price not matching the sign, which already happens, but it’ll be 10x worse.

I’d wait a couple of years and talk my ex-husband into keeping our house and renting it instead of selling it when we split up. It made sense at the time, since selling it was the fastest way to pay off all of our mutual debt (and most of our individual debt, too) and make it an easy split, but if we’d waited a few years, we would’ve made a solid 6 figure profit. I have no desire to be a landlord and mostly I’m glad we sold it to a nice family for what was still an affordable amount, but it would’ve been the only way I could ever afford to buy anything else on a single income, and it would’ve set him and his new wife up a lot better. I kind of hate the idea morally, but from a purely pragmatic view, it would’ve made sense.

It was. She’s 13 terms in, so I’m guessing it was taken when she was first elected, based on styling and photo quality. She have been in her early 40s, which seems about right.

And you know they’re in favor of mass deportations until it impacts their family members that are still undocumented. They just want other people’s family to be deported. It’s like all those stories that came out about white Trump voters who were upset about their undocumented spouse or their favorite restaurant owner or whoever being deported.
