You’re probably right, but guns like the ones they used can be obtained legally making them much easier to be obtained illegally. I’m not an expert on gun policy, so I can’t tell you how we should restrict access to guns.

The inuit folk I’ve talked to said that sometimes they have to shoot a polar bear if it’s harassing the village. When they kill one, it’s not uncommon to find bullets in it from the last time it was harassing a village. Polar bears are big and scary and we are destroying their habitat.

Boiling at atmospheric pressure generally takes much longer to sterilize than boiling at like 15 psi. I was mostly curious about how sterile we should be.

Would it be better to pressure sterilize it? Or would using distilled water be sufficient?

For outdoor survival stuff (like my avalanche beacon) they say you should only use the disposable ones. It’s probably got to do with cold tolerance or lifetime.

For Avalanche beacons you’re supposed to replace the battery after it gets below 95% charge.

My brother was building ebikes back in college back when companies were just starting to sell them, so this was somewhere around 2010(I’m not so good with numbers). When he built his it was more of a moped. It had a throttle and a hub motor and could go pretty darn fast, though technically counted as an experimental vehicle.

I believe back then there were still laws about how fast a bike could go before it was considered a motorcycle, at least in New York. But I think going fast was part of the appeal of early ebikes.

There was a very hacky feel to the community then. I remember visiting my brother and seeing a guy ride an ebike with a trailer that carried all his batteries.

I’ve had a lot of luck joining a run club, but there are other activity based clubs. The trick to these though is that you need to keep going to them for a while before you really start becoming friends with people.

What’s really worked for me was working as a snowboard instructor on the weekend. I’m not saying do that specifically, but finding a second job based around teaching is an amazing way to meet other people who like meeting new people and being nice and sharing their skills and experiences. I should specify, the people I meet are other instructors. I’ve also met some people at events, like when I got my avalanche rec 1 cert.
