Ever since my first apartment, I’ve always routed my TV and my computers through a stereo system. Idk how people can stand integrated speakers.
My stereo setup is a garbage low end early 2000s bookshelf situation, but it’s still miles better than a anything I’ve heard that gets pumped out the back (the back??!) of even super expensive flat screens.
Idk if it’s stubbornness as much as just your preference, and that’s super fine!
I’ve always focused a lot on sets and stuff more than the dialog in movies and shows, so with subtitles I feel like I’m missing a significant portion of the experience that I like most. When subtitles are on, I can’t make myself not read them, so I get less time to take everything else in.
Kinda funny, too, since I have significant hearing loss. I’m who captions are meant for lol

It’s totally going to lol. I feel like the show creators are great at coming up with big ideas, cool story elements, interesting characters, and good atmosphere, but just can’t tie them together.
I’m here for it, though! When Lost was first airing, the showrunners publicly swore up and down that they knew what they were doing. The end result didn’t really support that, but this time I’m just expecting it to go off the rails.
My friend and I watch it together, and we now have this inside joke where as soon as a thing that’s straight out of the Lost playbook, we text one another with “IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW!”
A main character has to deal with withdrawals? IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW!
Digging to enter a subterranean location that’s directly beneath us? IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW!
The asshole hick, who will probably end up with a redemption arc and we’ll later learn has a heart of gold, gets relegated to living alone in a multi-person vehicle. IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW!
A love triangle nobody is interested in? IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW!

It’s a long wait until the next season, but we’re now in the 2 month window of manic post-finale theorizing. My favorite part of every fandom!
I’m an OG Lost fan, and so is one of my best friends who’s watching it with me. We’re starting a list of “IT’S THE EXACT SAME SHOW” things. Neither of us have a lot of hope for the show’s future quality, writers strike or not, but we’re going to like whatever From becomes 🙂

I like looking up a movie I enjoy, and then I’ll check out all the lists it’s on to see what other folks group it with. There’s more variety doing this on Letterboxd than on IMDB.
The movie ratings are kinda whatever. I’ve liked tons of 2 star average films and disliked lots of 4 star ones, so it’s not really a reliable metric for me.
