A little history refresher on the origin of the term
The term “tankie” was originally used by dissident Marxist–Leninists to describe members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) who followed the party line of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Specifically, it was used to distinguish party members who spoke out in defense of the Soviet use of tanks to crush the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the 1968 Prague Spring uprising, or who more broadly adhered to pro-Soviet positions.
So specifically being a tankie and supporting fascist bullshit go hand in hand and always have.
Being that the exterior is some sort of stucco/earthen kind of material, it would have been refinished on the outside multiple times in 600 years. There’s buildings around 800 years old where I live that are in great condition because they’ve been well maintained. Also it’s pretty typical for old religious buildings to have been added onto and modified in phases. Quite a lot of the big old churches in Europe changed in design and grew in size over 100s of years, for example.

I think it just comes down to people being largely a product of their environment. In any case I’m glad to see this trend in women, but pretty disappointed that more men aren’t apparently capable of empathy.

It’s not mega surprising seeing what conservatives are trying to impose on women. It’s more surprising they have any significant female support whatsoever.
We ended up being the only committed nation block (whatever) while anyone else (namely China, India and the USA) kept doing little or nothing, token contributions if any, but few long run plans like we did.
If the EU played it that way on every issue, it would be a much shittier place to live.
A great example is the worker protections many of us enjoy here. We could be more competitive with shittier countries on that front and drive down worker benefits and quality of life, but who wants to live like the working class in China or even a lot of the US? It’s god awful. Doing all your policy based on the desires of industry is a recipe for dystopia.
Not a gotcha question, but what things did the LHC discover that have real practical applications right now other than validating some hypothesis? Because I’ve looked into it before and turned up nothing so I’m wondering what I’m missing.
