I can’t blame doctors for letting obesity color their opinion. Look around your doctor’s waiting room. Everyone is fat. Imagine the suffering and illness they see daily due to fat. How can those observations not color their general attitude?

I think OP is looking for a more informal meetup kinda deal.

If it was staged, and the wound was fake, it would have been done with blanks.

Anyone thinking it was staged has two issues: They watched too many action movies and have never shot a rifle.

Let ICE try to take me legal, brown wife. I’m prepared to die, thought on this for quite some time. But by god, I’ll take as many as I can if they show up.
If there was ever a fucking time to stand and fight, it’s now. And yes, fighting may mean you get killed. That’s kinda how fighting works.
EDIT: Thanks BTW! Forgot to get the AR out of the safe, we been on the river all day. 12-gauge over the door for “oops” things like that.

shalafi@lemmy.worldtoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•Wisconsin dad charged in school shooting is latest parent accused in gun violenceEnglish31·3 days agoAustralia isn’t remotely comparable. They never had the gun culture we have and the guns that were turned in were a bunch of rusty beaters no one wanted. (If you know what you’re looking at, there are plenty of pics out there.)
They never had the shear number and variety of guns we have. And those numbers have expanded wildly in the past decade or two. For example, no one really new what an AR was until they were banned, now it’s the most popular rifle in America.
Most important, Australia didn’t have a constitutional right to bear arms. Doesn’t matter if you agree, doesn’t matter how you parse the words, the 2A exists and the courts have almost always upheld it.
Also, Australia didn’t ban guns.

That can come off as, “Not now dumbass.” The new slang comes off as, “Yeah, needs covered, and we will, but not now.”
As always though, it’s all in the tone.
shalafi@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the worst "corporate speak/buzzwords" that you absolutely hate?English4·3 days agoThe first one is an Abomination unto Nuggan. I’m OK with the second one being used in a meeting to divert a topic that needs covered but is getting off tack.

As far back as I’m aware, hillbilly on both sides, Appalachian and Ozarks.
OP’s learning what we kids knew in the 80s.
War is just another game,
Tailor made for the insane,
But make a threat of their annihilation,
And nobody wants to play,
If that’s the only thing that keeps the peace,
[Chorus] Then thank God for the bomb!
