I think we all do that a bit, tbh. But when I get to the “rip it” stage I just put it in a timeout box instead, work on a new thing, then usually the desire to get back to the original thing will return eventually! If it really doesn’t I’ll also frog but that’s relatively rare.

Bonus of having so many craft hobbies I guess, there’s always some other WIP to switch focus to!

Yeah it’s the same sort of challenge and satisfaction at a solution, completely agree!

3d printing is useful for almost any hobby if you try hard enough!

We got really into making handmade dice for a while there, and used our resin printer to make custom master dice with our logo on. And I’ve used it to print out useful bits and bobs for cross stitch too. Someone I follow on Mastodon 3d printed a sock knitting machine, that was very cool.

Truly 3d printing is the hobby that keeps giving!

Making things, mostly.

Lots of crafts like knitting, crochet, cross stitch, sewing, felting, origami, faffing about with clay, etc etc. And gamedev which I basically think of as the same sort of hobby because it’s just making a different sort of thing.

Making YouTube videos about all of the above, in defiance of the algorithm gods.

Reading any and all scifi I can get my hands on, plus the Discworld series just over and over again endlessly on a loop.

Also the amount of time I spend on Mastodon and Lemmy probably means it counts as a rather lame hobby at this point…

As a European, I’d read about this phenomenon and assumed it was just a sort of vaguely reminiscent hint of a taste. Because surely nobody would be eating it if it tasted strongly of vomit.

Was given a free sample of Hershey’s in Chicago once. Didn’t taste of anything at all it was just weird and waxy. So much for that!

Yeah I made it maybe halfway down the street before the taste kicked in. For any other non-US folks who think it’s an exaggeration, it is not. Literally tasted like I’d thrown up in my mouth, not just a bit like it but literally like vomit.

My minor life advice is do not accept handouts of Hershey’s chocolate!

Inconviently located chores for most of tomorrow, then a big family thing for my gran’s birthday on Sunday. Honestly not sure which day I’m looking forward to the least. Hoping to find room for some crafts and some videomaking at…some point in there somewhere? 🤷‍♀️

Someone from my old secondary school tried to organise one a few years ago. I figured it might be fun in a cheesy sort of way, even though the only people I’d want to see are the ones I’m still in touch with and would have been going with anyway, and I doubt I’d remember most others at all.

Unfortunately it clashed with an NFL London game I really wanted to go to, and that was always going to win out! No regrets.

I’m all over the Fediverse under this name and also @TeaHands@lemmy.world so could be either tbh. I did a lot of tech support in the early days of the big migration here :D

That is very true and for a moment I debated taking a selfie holding up a message, AMA-style. But ultimately I was too lazy so I guess we’ll never know for sure 😉

Currently cross stitching Errol from Discworld, a steampunk style world map, and a design of my own based on one of this year’s Eurovision entries.

Currently knitting a pair of socks in ridiculous multicoloured yarn, and a poncho-style lacy shawl that will probably take a year (but it needs to be done by July 🤦‍♀️).

Currently not crocheting or sewing anything but that will no doubt be rectified soon! And then of course there’s all the things that have been put into hibernation that I’ll hopefully get round to finishing one day eventually maybe…
