War with China is neither inevitable nor necessary, but actions and policies currently being pursued in both Beijing and Washington are mindlessly drifting towards a clash.
There are already signs that public opinion in Taiwan is shifting away from the west. KMT is likely to win big in the next election, and their platform is reunification.
The crisis will be a colour revolution with the new government approving the construction of a US military base as close to the mainland as possible. And China will be the aggressor somehow.
I don’t think China will ever “invade” Taiwan.
However I do think that eventually Taiwan will face some kind of crisis, China will intervene, and that will be called an “invasion” by Western press.
