And I actually expect that the numbers are considerably higher just because there are probably a lot of people unaccounted for under the rubble. But even if they are exaggerated it is still staggering human cost and there is no way around it.

    Death toll releases

Biden: No, that can’t be right. Israel is merely “defending itself”

Death with names of victims releases

Biden: Sticks head in sand and yells gibberish

You see why neutral parties concerned for human life have been calling for a ceasefire now? Or do you want more blood on your hands? How children are enough? 1000? 2000? 5000?

    Jfc, this is depressing…

This is the best summary I could come up with:

GENEVA, Oct 27 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden has cast doubt on casualty figures provided by Palestinian officials in Gaza, but international humanitarian agencies consider them broadly accurate and historically reliable.

Although there is no dispute that Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed many people since Hamas ran amok in southern Israel on Oct. 7, Biden said on Wednesday he had “no confidence in the number that the Palestinians are using”, without saying why.

U.N. and other international agencies say there can be small discrepancies between the final casualty numbers and those reported by the Gaza health ministry straight after attacks, but that they broadly trust them.

New York-based Human Rights Watch also says the casualty figures have generally been reliable, and that it has not found big discrepancies in its verification of past strikes on Gaza.

“It’s worth noting that the numbers that are coming out since October 7th are generally consistent or within logic for the scale of killings one would expect, given the intensity of bombardment in such a densely populated area,” Omar Shakir, Israel and Palestine Director at Human Rights Watch, said.

It reports casualty totals based on numbers it receives from hospitals, ambulances and emergency services, in coordination with the Red Crescent, a spokesman in Ramallah said.

The original article contains 891 words, the summary contains 213 words. Saved 76%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

He prefers a number closer to or at zero. Anything else shows he backed and effectively promoted the murder of civilians, including children

Anyone with common decency should be against a war crime-comitting child-killing illegal state.

I liketo think my take on the conflict is pretty nuanced. Generally, I don’t like the State of Isreal.

Let me be crystal clear with what I just wrote: I believe the government of Isreal has fostered a culture of dehumanizing Palestinians and is complicit in crimes against humanity. This is apparent with its history of stealing land and extra-judicial killings of Palestinian civilians by the IDF. The people of Israel deserve so much better.

This sentiment also largely applies to Palestine. The Hamas Government triggered this conflict by striking at civilians in Israel. I understand that their primary driving ideology is to kill jews and I think that is fucked up. I also understand that after years of the afore mentioned land grabbing and killings it has led to these extreme attacks by Hamas. It really feels like a chicken and egg situation, which started first. Either way the people of Palestine deserve so much better.

I am more than capable of assigning blame to the appropriate places and lament the affects it has on the victims of violence.

Idk, how far are we stretching the definition of carpet bomb? Is it as far detached from the actual definition like your usage of “genocide”? Are we including massive missile barrages? I don’t think Hamas wants to stop firing those off.

Pretty idiotic argument, even if im very pro Israel, UN is relatively neutral on that and the death toll doesn’t seem to much out of place given the amount of attacks.

But there is nothing possible to do about that either way.

Other countries would have turned gaza into a glass desert by now… Most would have. And don’t tell my otherwise, if your country gets attacked on a important holiday, by people specifically targeting civilians killing and kidnapping people, everyone else would have been done by now.

I Don’t say Israel isn’t doing some shady and problematic things, but the blame falls mostly on those that caused all of that to themselves and now use civilians as human shields while launching rockets into civilian areas (sometimes even the ones they claim their territory as seen in the hospital incident)

UN is far from neutral towards Israel and takes most of their data from the local government, regardless of their international status as a terror organization.

Talking about the UN as a singular entity that has objective features is silly and quite honestly emphasizes your lack of knowledge
