  • The muppets don’t sell to children anymore. That’s why. There is also no longer a lot of money in properties that are multi-layered in their entertainment approach. It’s much easier to produced lots of specialized content. Muppets are essentially a period piece of the 70s/80s and even in the last movie it was more of a nostalgia for adults than anything else.

    Kids today grow up today entirely on CGI movies/tv shows. I have four newphews who mostly live on youtube. They like Star wars and Marvel. That’s about it. They have never little interest in anything else. I showed them one or two muppets movie and they thought it was ‘stupid and boring’.
