Explaining? Stars go supernova occasionally, there’s your explanation. There doesn’t need to be further cause or intervention behind it.
Stars don’t just randomly supernova. Stars have extremely predictable lifecycles. It’s hard to believe a warp-capable species never made it past a 19th century understanding of how their sun works, especially given how fundamental the underlying principles are to our own ability to observe and understand the universe.
It’s a plot hole in ST '09, though I agree that maybe it is best ignored unless they can come up with a truly compelling explanation.

i would think continually rehashing characters from the ‘60s is a move meant to appeal to people in their 60s.
i’m much more interested in the Star Trek: Legacy pitch, but even then i want them to keep legacy characters limited to guest appearances so that the new crew has a chance to stand on its own.

I love it when they try to take risks and do something new or different with the IP. Even if it fails, the end result is still usually more interesting than a safe retread would have been. Disco isn’t my favorite Star Trek, but it is one of the most interesting entries in the franchise, and has done a lot to expand and solidify the 23rd century canon.
People forget how controversial the Battlestar Galactica reboot was. Same goes for Daniel Craig’s James Bond. Simply being different from the source material is not enough to make it bad. Discovery isn’t as good as either of these, but i’m glad it tried.
the one that made me laugh recently was when they tried to paint alternatives to rcs as antiquated.
rcs doesn’t even support end-to-end encryption, something even imessage does.
an open, industry standard that everyone supports would be awesome, but rcs simply isn’t it. rcs was designed to make telecom companies happy, not to be an actually good messaging protocol.
Visual Studio got a lot better after Microsoft finally pulled their heads out of their butts and made it 64-bit. But, at least for .NET development, it is no longer required. VS Code is a viable alternative with some extensions, and JetBrains Rider is downright awesome.
Even if you don’t like Visual Studio specifically, you probably still use some kind of IDE rather than a plain text editor plus command line tools. Even basic things like syntax highlighting are tremendously useful features that significantly reduce cognitive load.
One use case I can think of for soemthing like Studio Binder is their scriptwriting tools. You can do that all in a word processor, and there are probably even good templates for it. But presumably Studio Binder’s script editor is built to ensure all your formatting adhere’s to existing industry standards. It probably has a custom spell checker to enforce some of this. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it has built in functionality for tying scenes to a shot list, tracking locations and props as they are introduced, etc. I don’t know if they actually do these things, but they are features I would likely build into such software based on my own experience that regular word processors and project planners don’t really do.
Tools with features and UX designed around a specific workflow can significantly reduce the cognitive load of that workflow. It’s why these products gain so much traction to begin with.
Bump it up to 16 GB of RAM.
Other than that, I think the base specs are fine. iOS app development isn’t nearly as heavy as it used to be now that Macs and iPhones share similar SoCs.
Thinking about it, i can’t remeber a time in the last decade that a game made me feel that way. Crysis was probably the last time.
