And what’s worse is when you’re watching , there’s nothing related to religion. There’s just death, poverty, and lack of hope at the forefront. These kids need help so so bad and the international community is throwing a blind eye towards it.

Honestly people should watch Born in Gaza. You can see what how their lives have been affected by the constant conflicts throughout their lives.
I’m not advocating for terrorism at all and that should be clear. But you can clearly see why many of these kids are so prone to being radicalized. Unnamed aggressors with no face bombing constantly whether it be farmland or ambulances or what have you. Hamas absolutely should be stopped but there needs to be a different approach. This cycle will just keep producing more and more fighters for them as they believe they are the resistance.
Letterboxd has been slowly filling that void for me
The political scene there seems to have become Russian like. The opposition party seems to have been squashed and imprisoned leading to sham elections.
I enjoyed the latest trailer but it did feel very generic to me. I guess it might be just well done but has a middle of the road story.
Did not expect to see this. Looks like there was a reason they moved this from streaming to theaters. I was thinking of cancelling my A-List but this is a nice surprise to go see.
Yeah that would be great. I think both ideas if implemented would be excellen. Both types of media in one comm dilutes what people may want to talk about. Maybe its because communities are smaller here so they don’t want each individual community to feel like there’s a dearth of content. I’m also subscribed to the movies community in lemmy.world and lemmy.ml as well but this definitely has the most activity.
That’s what I mean exactly.
That’s also a great idea about splitting it up. having both kind of dilutes the community to have both in one.
The Northman. Seeing Eggers with a huge budget was a sight to behold. Incredible cinematography and great performances from Skarsgard, Kidman, Claes, Defoe (man there’s so many to name). I love seeing Norse culture and mythology as well (play Hellblade if you ever get the chance).
I’m not sure if it’s considered an “original” considering it’s an adaptation of the classic The Lion King.
It’s pretty depressing how we went from eagerly hoping and praying for a vaccine to come to now having to somehow convince people to take it when there’s a surge in cases.
At the moment I’m sharing Netflix/Gamepass with a friend who is sharing their Hbo/Hulu. Once they start cracking down on passwords im going to only subscribe when there is something there for me to watch.
Yeah I could resort to piracy but I want them to know why I subscribed and unsubscribed each time.
The day I go back to piracy is when they start drafting up 1/2 year contracts for their services. I don’t think it’s that far honestly . Probably another year or so we’ll see at least one streaming service try it .
They’re trying to break him 1984 style I’m assuming. Not make him a martyr,
I think this is still my favorite movie of the year so far with Spiderverse (haven’t watched Oppenheimer yet). I’ve been so tired of MCU movies and this gave quite a breath of fresh air. High high recommend.
Japans immigration is actually surprisingly strict no ? I feel as the population ages more and more those laws will get a little more lax.
Would explain them backing out of the grain deal.
I actually really enjoyed Ms. Marvel. I’m a SA first gen from Queens and it was incredibly relatable and actually taught me a few things even I didn’t know about the partition. The actress is very charismatic and likable as well. The supporting cast complimented the show (the dad is MVP). My only real complaints are her powers just being very… boring lol. Hopefully they expand on that in the movie.
Phillip Morris is definitely not gonna leave and looks like they contributed ~$200 mil in taxes.
You know I felt the same way about Hulu too but my friend shared their subscription and I found a decent amount of shows I’d consider “prestige”.
Atlanta
The Bear
What We Do in the Shadows
Handmaids Tale (haven’t watched in a while)
Only Murders in the Building
Devs

Legion
I knew about Netflix but had no idea Hulu was profitable as well. I wonder what Comcast will do with their stake in Hulu then.
lol honestly my middle manager boss makes more than him while he’s running one of the most stressful jobs in the world.
