I saw my retired grandparents buy property in the country and spend all day working on their garden and continuously making improvements to their home and doing other projects that interested them. In the summer they traveled the country and camped. If you spend your retirement wasting away in front of the TV that’s on you for not finding some hobbies.

I learned early on as a child that you might as well participate in the fucking around because you’re just gonna get lumped in with the rest of them when the finding out happens.

I’d kind of see that as a bonus. Some time to bond while on a nice vacation on someone else’s dime would be cool especially if it meant not having to deal with the ex and the new guy as much. Definitely don’t go if you’re not going to be civil with the ex and him though (which would be understandable given the circumstances). Ruining the trip for everyone else won’t gain anything other than possibly resentment from the kid.

That probably wouldn’t have been too far off.

I had that conversation hundreds of times when I was doing desktop support…

I used to work at a auto shop and one time a lady came in wanting an estimate to replace the majority of the exhaust on her car. We didn’t do exhaust work so the only way for me to price that out for her was to go based off the purchase of all the components from the parts shop which would have been way more expensive than a shop that actually does exhaust work. I told her as such and then she insisted that I price it out anyway which took forever because I had to find a diagram of her cars exhaust and cross reference all the parts with the parts shop website and then the entire time she’s bitching at me about how long this is taking. I continued to explain that going to an exhaust shop would be cheaper and she continued to insist. When I handed her the estimate she glanced at it, laughed in my face, and stormed out. That shit happened almost 2 decades ago and it still pops into my head frequently.

I accidentally switched to it and it dropped all my non-MS mailboxes. Then when I immediately switched back it had the gall to ask me why.

Reminds me of my last job where I had to build a ridiculously complex excel spreadsheet that I copied a bunch of reports into to do scheduling because someone decided I didn’t need access to the actual data…

Agreed. They switched us to teams for our softphone and the caller ID doesn’t even show me the number that called half the time. I just get a generic location which is worthless to me.
