Twitter and Facebook Groups absolutely do and have a lot to answer for. Fediverse is the next gen and improved to cause less of that. People are excited about the normies making the next step.

Instagrams format doesn’t really lend itself to societal breakdown. Twitter and Facebook Groups absolutely do and have a lot to answer for.
