Always has been. In literal terms, it’s just Greek for"soul". What’s insulting about calling someone a soul? Everyone’s a soul. The reason psy*cho is insulting is that it’s short for psychotic or psychopathic. Which are both mental conditions. Insulting someone for a mental condition is always a slur. And nobody uses that word when they’re not trying to insult someone.
